Sunday afternoons are always a sad time for me. That means my weekend is about over and it will be time to go back to work soon.
We had a great time yesterday afternoon at the pig-in-the-ground barbeque at church. This is the third annual early spring event. We had lots of wonderful food to go along with our barbeque. Baked beans, salads, corn on the cob, deviled eggs, and the deserts were nothing short of wonderful. Someone even made a hundred cupcakes decorated like pigs. The kids loved them. We had a good age range too. From the very young to the very wise.
The reason this is only our third annual event is because our congregation has only been in existence for 3 years. It will be 4 in June. We started out with 130 the first Sunday, and now have about 600 each week. We began in a rented building with plans to build, and when we grew so quickly, that plan was scrapped for a bigger plan, and we are already outgrowing our classroom space. We are truly blessed!
Our service this morning was a study about the Holy Spirit. The minister talk about being filled with the spirit, and that the Holy Spirit came on the apostles on the day of Pentecost, but it's something we don't tend to delve into deeply. I think we just assume it's there, that it is part of the Godhead, and we pretty much leave it at that.
Now it's back home, working on laundry for next week, getting some cooking done and hopefully a nap. First I have to go get some strawberries ready for my grandson(aka Superman).
Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday. Do something silly today. Make someone laugh.
