The Great American Trailer Park Musical

I know you've been checking my blog often this morning to see what I had to say about The Great American Trailer Park Musical. It was a hoot! It was corny, trashy and very funny. It was set in Armadillo Acres, in Stark, Florida.

There were three gals who basically told the story, and they did a great joy. One had a husband on death row, one's husband was buried behind one of the trailers, and the other one's family had disowned them and she had a hysterical pregnancy and wore maternity clothes all the time. The first song they sang had to do with whether they lived on the right side or the wrong side of the tracks, and basically said they lived on THIS side of the tracks.

The one whose husband was on death row was the funniest. She was a ditsy blonde and said whatever came into her head. The story was about a couple who had lived in the park for 20 years. He had been a highschool football bigshot who was failing geometry, and she was a math whiz. He asked her to help him pass geometry, and the rest is history. He now is a toll booth collector, and since their baby was stolen, she hasn't been outside of the trailer.

She's trying to get over her agoraphobia, and he ends up at a strip club where he gets picked up by the new stripper in town, who just also happens to have moved into the park next door.

He has an affair with the stripper. His wife throws him out, and the stripper's marker sniffing boyfriend comes to town to shoot them all. During the confrontation, the boyfriend mentions that his mama used to sing him a lullabye that started off ,'The devil went down to Georgia', and when the agoraphobic wife sings the next line, 'He was looking for a soul to steal', then she knew he was her stolen baby, and now they could all live happily ever after.

The language was a little rough and the sexual enuendos were a little explicit, but other than that, it was funny and very entertaining.

My five friends went also. Four of us started and finished school together, and then we have two we've adopted. Everyone got a kick out of the musical, and we're waiting for the sequel.

This musical was presented by the Drama Dept here at the local university where I am employeed, so it's easy for me to go over and pick up tickets for things here on campus. Sure wish I got a discount!

What have your done thats fun with your friends lately? If you don't have any, make every effort to make some and have fun with them. In the meantime:

Have a great Wednesday. Do something silly. Make someone laugh.

My ditzy blonde friend and I are going to see the new Sex and the City movie when it comes out on May 30. Have I mentioned I need a baby sitter that night?

Wow - can ANYONE request your babysitting services on here? Even if we live in a completely different state? HAHAHAHAHA

Glad you enjoyed the show - it sounds very entertaining.

1 Not sure how else to contact you--YOU WON THE COOKBOOK! Also, the shoes came from the Stride Rite Store. That Gorilla Bread is a CINCHO to make. It only takes 30 minutes to bake and took maybe 10 minutes to assemble. I made it, popped it in the oven, got ready, and walked out the door. Let me know how I can get the book to you and to whom it should be addressed.
