I have always wanted to learn to quilt. I remember my mother having a quilt frame that hung from the ceiling. She would let it down, work on it, and then draw it back up near the ceiling to get it out of the way. I have her quilt frames. I don't know if daddy made them, or if she bought them somewhere. I've had a couple of opportunities to learn, but have let those slip through my fingers. And with the quilting machines, it is just too easy to take your tops and have them done quickly. There is also a group of ladies at the Methodist church who quilt on Tuesdays. They have told me I welcome to be a Methodist on Tuesdays if I would like to learn to quilt. They put up a quilt and hand quilt it. The money they make goes to support the work of the church.
But with working full time, I'm unable to be a Tuesday Methodist, so I guess I'm going to just have to do the best I can. I joined a group that is doing strip projects. I haven't done any yet. I keep planning to and I've even cut some strips, but I think I just need someone to take me by the hand and help me decide how to get started. I want to do pretty quilts. I don't want to make something that the colors scream at you. I want them to say thank you for putting me next to these other pieces.
However, first, I have a pageant dress to make. Then I desperately need to clean my sewing room, then maybe I'll be able to work on a quilt of some type.
I hope you are having a wonderful day. Pray for those who are hungry. Love one another.

I know exactly how you feel! I love quilts, I want to quilt, and I have so many fun patterns and ideas that I want to do, but sadly I have absolutely NO TIME!
I get started piecing something together and then someone comes in wanting to be fed!
I have my grandmother's quilt frames that my dad made for her and she hung them from her living room ceiling until just before she passed away! I have big plans to hang them in one of the rooms in my house...just don't know when that is going to be?
Maybe we should both start with little quilt projects, like pillows or table runners - just to get the itch scratched! So to speak?
I can barely sew on a button-but I'd like to quilt too or at least be able to sew other things like you do : )
Better you than me. That is one hand art I've never had a desire to learn. I hope you make it fit into your schedule!
I have taken up cross stitch because of the stuff my aunt does... i have a friend in south carolina who does the quilting by had for us... it is amazing but not something i want to do... maybe someday... kudos to you for wanting to learn it...
Do not ever give up! Quilting is so much fun!!
Me, too! But I just don't have time.
